Vigil

Posted on Tuesday 12 July 2005

This pencil piece was started about 10 years ago.

I held on to it even though it was only on very lightweight paper, and even though I never finished it. I suppose I just liked the expression on the model’s face, and the calm that seems to radiate from her.

I’m in the process of adding all the atmosphere, story, and mystery that wasn’t present before… so far I like the way it’s shaping up.

Even on cheap paper it shows the skills you developed at ccad. Being able to draw the human body just amazes me. I bet it looked different to you ten years later than what you remembered it. At least that’s the way it is when I look back on earlier quilts. Happy to see you exercising and enjoying your visual skills. Love you, mom
