Lack of evidence

Pattie compains now when I don’t fully document artwork that I’m working on. I suppose this is better than her complaining that I’m working on art… :)

I’m about 95% done with another pastel piece, and plan to start the BIG one after that…

It’s big in the sense that it’s going to be a large piece physically (24 x 36) and it’s big in the sense that the subject matter is very detailed and will require quite a bit of time to finish. I’ll have to transfer the drawing to the pastel paper which I’ve already mounted to the large masonite panel. I’ll have to block in the darks, the lights, and the midtones. I’ll have to step back, take stock of what I’ve got, and forge onward… This cycle will repeat until I’m done, progressively adding more detail each cycle and establishing edges, light sources, textures… Ensuring that the viewer has multiple paths to traverse in his/her exploration of the piece, and hopefully leaving the viewer with a sense of what I’ve learned about the subject matter while working.

Such is always the case, I suppose.

Anyway I’ll post the new pastel I’m almost done with as soon as I’ve scanned it in.

The BIG piece? I’ll be documenting the @#%$ out of this one, baby!
