Shameless Plug for Rich’s Upcoming Art Show

Posted on Saturday 22 October 2005

Guest entry written by Rich’s loving, awesome, always-supportive wife, Pattie.

Rich has asked me to spread the word among our family and friends about his upcoming art show at Three Flights Up Gallery on Friday, November 4. After much hard work and creative networking in Knoxville’s art community, Rich learned about its First Friday program and found a gallery he wanted to exhibit in. He then discovered a childhood friend’s involvement with the gallery by bizarre coincedence.

First Friday is a monthly event where local artists’ work is showcased. The underlying goal, of course, is to sell one’s artwork and live the dream of every artist, doing something you love and getting paid for it. The fringe benefits include being discovered by art lovers in our community, networking, and getting unbiased, invaluable feedback from complete strangers.

Rich has worked incredibly hard the last few months creating pastel pieces to be featured in his show. I’ve seen firsthand how he’s brainstormed, sketched, created, and documented the pieces that will be in the show. I’ve even been lucky enough to have been the photographer of some images he’s used for source material (Mudpuppy, Patricia’s Mountain). For those of you who regularly check his blog, you’ve been able to see how he’s documented his progress throughout his creative process. I’m lucky enough to see it firsthand every day. We should all be so blessed with not only the talent Rich has, but the drive he has to reach his full artistic potential.

I really hope as many of our family and friends can make it out to support Rich on his incredibly big night. I will of course be there, smiling proudly and honored to take my place at his side as he wows Knoxville.

Come out if you can and support Rich at November’s First Friday event, November 4 from 5PM to 9PM.
