Well, lots going on!
First as you can see by my lovely wife’s diligent guest posts, my show is tomorrow evening from 5-9 at the Three Flights Up gallery. I’ll be relieved when the show is under my belt, but I’m excited to be in the show and to see what kind of reception the work will get.
In other news, I’ve accepted a full time job with Digital Media One, which is one of the companies I had been doing on-site contract work for in the last few months. We’re a small company with big prospects. Already we’ve launched a teaser site and done a full corporate site redesign from the ground up for Patricia Cornwell, the #1 New York Times bestselling author. Lots of other fun projects underway right now but I can’t say too much!
I’m still doing quite a bit of freelance to boot, and plan on continuing to do so. I just don’t have as much time now to market myself as when I was full time freelance, but in truth I have less time to devote to the work itself as well so it scales well.
On a personal note, after selling their home recently and moving to another, my folks paid off the last little bit of the money we owed for my college tuition (myself and they had been paying on it every month since 1997.) THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!
Thanks for not only helping me pay this off now, but for helping me afford college in the first place. I’m certain I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’ve done had I not gone to art school and learned about design.
Last but not least, kudos to my wife for her slew of updates lately on her own blog. Let’s all give her a hand, and then with those hands give her a little push so she finishes her 2nd children’s book, or her novel, or her city spouse country spouse article, or her CSI script…
See you all at the show!
I’m so proud of you for being featured in the show tomorrow night. And thanks for sharing about the Cornwell site–it’s been killing me not saying anything! And, lastly, it’s “Without a Trace,” not “CSI.”
Love ya.
Dude, congratulations on the upcoming show! Mucho proud.

Rich, the show was wonderful!!!! I’m so proud of our talented artist son. What a good crowd it was. I told everyone I could how nice it was of so many of them coming to support you. You obviously did quite a bit of word of mouth advertizing of your own. Is that Fri night thing always that crowded? And your dear wife has been so supportive of you. Hats off to her. Hey just a thought. We could have a combined Rich’s work, Pattie’s photography and book sales and Carol’s mini quilts show, all wrapped into one some day. Something for all tastes.
Glad the loans are paid off and that you stuck with the program through those greuling deadlines and demanding professors. Many of those who started out with you dropped out. And we are glad you realize now the sacrifice it took us to be able to help you out. It was well worth it. I do hope Pattie will get the courage and drive up to continue on with her creative pursuits. Except for having to climb the terribly smelly stair ways and the smelly
entrance down stairs, it was a great experience. Thanks for keeping us informed so we were able to get there. Love you, mom
Rich, pat yourself on the back also for another way of having gotten yourself through college. It was a big help to have that four year scholarship from your portfolio review. And the part time work you picked up. So pat your self on the back thrice when you finish reading this. Be seeing or talking to you soon. Love you, mom
There will be a much longer post soon about the show and all to do with it… stay tuned!
