As promised

Posted on Wednesday 15 March 2006

First, here’s the finished piece from the Stormclouds series, number 3: “Where They All Know.”

Next up, we have the finished Fishwife. Note that it can be viewed from 2 orientations… see the signature for more clues as to which way it can be read.

Last but not least, we have the piece currently under the knife. Tentatively titled “Yellowman”, I’ve decided to run with this whole abstract thing my right brain has cajoled me into… Incidentally, I plan on having a small showing in the next Three Flights Up monthly gallery show. Wish me luck!

Here’s a barrage of images, from the original ink sketch from a sketchbook long ago, to the transfer stage, the line drawing stage on the final surface, and then progressive stages of completion. Only the last image pops to a larger pic.

I have a ‘work around’ for the moment, etched on a cheat sheet Dad prepared for me. Oh how I wish I understood how to operate computers better.

My first favorite piece this time is the abstract at the bottom simply because it seems magical to me. I told you on the phone why is seemed magical.
I like the muted colors in it probably the same way I like the colors in the watercolor I spoke about that Dad and I would like to keep and frame of the individual doing dishes.

The top piece is quite full and takes awhile to digest it all, and then titling it as you did makes it all the more interesting.

The title and the fact that the middle piece can be viewed a couple different ways and was done on purpose that way makes it exciting to explore.

Did you say your next art show was April 7th?

Thanks for sharing your work on your blog again!

    Love you,
    mom
