Her Majesty, the Queen

Posted on Tuesday 25 April 2006

This week, my darling dear started her new job. She is ecstatic, and I’m happy that she’s all giddy with that “new job” smell.. sorta like a new car smell but it has more of a fresh cubicle odor.. :)

Anyway I’m quite proud of her for getting this job all on her own, and storming the castle so to speak and GETTING the job she wanted.. kudos baby, you rock.

In honor of your new desk television and 5 page long dvd borrow list from HGTV, I give you “The Way She Weaves”, a new pastel piece to complement a companion piece, pun intended.

Getting the drawing situated on the pastel paper took quite a while.. I’m always critical at this stage.

Chopping in the darks, which helps to verify I’ve got the linear aspect correct at least at the most broad scope… tight details will come later.

Dropping in some color, starting to play middle tones against dark and against the light of the paper. Beginning to weave some of each color I use into varied points around the composition, in an effort to build up a nice rhythm of color.

An abstraction based on tonight’s work.

Thanks for the support, baby. I hope to accustom you to the lifestyle in which you should be living. :) This job has definitely been worth the wait.

The portrait is looking good–love the pun, too.

And the DVD list is actually 11 pages long. And in small print.
