In recent months I have transitioned into updating this site when I make progress on a piece of art I’m working on, in sort of a step by step fashion. Well, it’s gotten to be hot, muggy, and summer now… and progress on art has sort of ground to a halt as I work in my garage and folks, it’s HOT out there. Even with fans keeping the air moving, I’m a spoiled American and am more comfortable existing in air conditioned quarters for all the but most impracticle to air condition circumstances… re: mowing the lawn, walking the dogs, taking out the trash…
That said, I will try to update regardless of my productiveness on the easel.
The last couple months have certainly been filled with things to talk about! The end of May and into the first couple days of June saw me camping at Big Ridge with my pals Russ Turpin and Renee Holiday, and her boyfriend Elliott. This was the first time Russ and I had met him, and we approve. He’s a nice fellow, smart and with a good sense of humor. You go Renee! The two of them are embarking on an exciting but always risky new business, combining executive training type thigns with marketing and design services… Will we see a resurgence of the M3 Collective concept after all these years? We’ll see!
The repercussions of the camping trip are still being felt by me today, as I came home with about 16 ticks and had to get Pattie to remove about half of them that I couldn’t get to for fear of leaving the heads embedded.. EWWWWWWWWWWWW. I still have some itching and redness around a couple bites so will be having Doc Tamara take a look this evening hopefully to let me know if I’m gonna turn into a tick myself.
In other news, Pattie and I ventured up to Iowa from June 9-12 and got to see LOADS of relatives up there which just rocked! I love that I love my extended family and they are all so fun to be around.. I just wish we didn’t all live so far apart
We got to spend quality time with my grandparents too, on both sides, as well as with aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.. nieces were not in attendance this time but hopefully will get to hang out with some of them next trip! The reason for the trip was to attend the wedding reception for Kerry Edwards and his new wife Susan. They’re a great couple, and we hope to have them down for some TN visitation rights soon
Last weekend we had the Relay for Life and the Adventure Con in Knoxville, which are more lovingly detailed on HER site…
Yesterday, I hit a snag in my ongoing efforts to sell art. The franchise of frame shops I have been using, Deep Discount Art & Framing apparently all went out of business abruptly. So I had to drive around looking for a frame shop that could handle a quick turnaround time and knew how to frame pastel pieces with reverse bevels etc… Yay!
The upcoming First Friday opening at Three Flights Up gallery will be showing three of my pieces this time around. It would have been more, but blame Fahrenheit. I’ll be dropping the framed pieces off this Sunday, and am crossing my fingers but not getting my hopes up that the gallery’s website will be the new version I designed and Brock Gillespie coded back-end to…
Excellent recap post, dear.
And thanks for the shameless plug.
I am very glad you posted. I feel the same way about my extended family that lives in Cleveland, OH. Good luck at the gallery!
Good Luck at the upcoming show!!..I will try and get by this time, man…P.S….BANG!
